Mod Shop Manifesto

Welcome to The Mod Shop, Maximum PC’s online megalopolis for PC modders. Our editors have been covering the hardcore PC modding scene since 1999, bringing you spectacular photography, in-depth how-to articles, and even contests like Rig of the Month (which can be found in every issue of Maximum PC magazine). Now, with help from Windows Vista Ultimate, Corsair and Antec, we’re happy to present the ultimate community resource for PC hardware hackers of all experience levels.

Inside the Mod Shop, you can share and promote your PC building projects with photos, work logs, how-to articles, and more. Whether
your modding hacks are simple or insane, performance-oriented or
aesthetic, we invite you to contribute by chronicling your
work-in-progress on your rig’s very own profile page. The Mod Shop is
about your machine, your experience level notwithstanding.

Oh, and then there are the kick-ass prizes—for both rig builders and registered Mod Shop members who vote in our Battle tournaments.

When you’ve completed your first rig profile, toggle the Ready for
Battle switch, and your machine will automatically begin competing for
community votes. As you earn more and more votes, your machine will
move up in ranking, with the ultimate goal of waging gladiator-style
combat in our monthly modding tournament. The highest ranked projects will win awesome prizes bestowed by our most benevolent benefactors from Windows Vista Ultimate, Corsair, and Antec.

Prizes include…

• Winner: $1200 + a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate


• 2nd place: $400 + a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate


• Runners-Up (3rd and 4th place): $200 + a copy of Windows Vista


• Honorable Mention (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th place): a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate
