Hellusion is featured in the Holiday 2007 MaximumPC magazine as “rig of the month”, the mod took over a year to design and build and is the sequel to my HellRaiser Cenobite PC. Creating a worthy follow up to the last project wasn’t easy, I had to go small and get tricky to pull it off. The whole thing started with a mini-ITX board, a crazy idea and a quick pencil sketch…

The computer is completely concealed by an optical illusion that makes the whole thing appear to be nothing more than an empty black box containing a levitating HellRaiser puzzlebox.

There is a six page work log on www.CaseModGod.com that covers the start to finish scratch build if you are interested, or check out the following three minute Hellusion “making the mod” worklog video…

I built the case in three pieces starting from the inside and working my way out, it’s made of Alum angle and Acrylic held together using JB-kwik and Weld-on 16, no screws, bolts or rivits were used… wait, a single screw holds the hellraiser box tightly to the mirror. This next picture shows the case with the computer and all hardware removed.

Check out my “Hellusion Revealed” video, it shows the computer up and running and some of the finer details of the mod, it also shows how easily the case comes apart and goes together…

Here’s the mod up and running on my desk with both the puzzle box illusion and 6” LCD monitor / Matrix Orbital display sides showing, at 8.25 inches cubed it doesn’t take up a lot of space – also shown is the 12V wireless remote that controls the mod’s internal lighting.
