Project Nighthawk is a custom computer designed as a flight simulator and gaming console. The inspiration for the design was taken from the exotic looks of the Lockheed F-117A Stealth Fighter, one of my personal favorites among millitary aircraft. The shell of the PC will have lots of angles and sleek sharp edges reminding one of the radar deflecting shapes found on the F-117A.

There are absolutely no right angles in the design of the outer shell (except for the control surfaces in front) which posed a really fun design challenge. Using a full sized ATX motherboard and dual SLi graphics cards required some crafty engineering with regards to cooling; a series of baffles, induction tubes and intakes was necessary to keep the components cool, and completely seperate from one another.

Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS cast aluminum flight stick and throttle provide awesome tactile feedback and realism, along with the CH Products Pro flight pedals.

The 8” touchscreen monitor allows the pilot to undock the flight controls from the main gaming window and have instant access to flight critical data.

Below the Touchscreen monitor is the Slim Style DVD-R/RW.

The button panel on the left controls an independent 6-channel digital playback and recording card that plays sound effects from the F-117A via the speaker on the right. Other switches control the lighting effects.

The Crystal Fonts USB LCD module controls fans, and gives system information such as temperature, fan speed, uptime and anything you wish to program in.
