thanks, I’ve got most of the components already, scavenged from several older computers, and scored a sweet mobo/cpu for cheap. I shoul dbe able to get teh carbon layed for the back panel this week/weekend. Also updated the “PC in a ?” tag. Thanks! :)

Heres my first case fabrication project. It’s in its infant stages right now, but as time and money allow it’ll grow. It’s going to be a computer inside a custom made guitar-shaped case.

The back panel will be made from carbon fiber and will hold the mobo, PSU etc. I’m going to make carbon fiber HDD and CD drive brackets that will also mount to the back panel. There will be more CF details, most noticeably the pick guard. The rest of the case will be made from neon green and translucent red acrylic.

Its not going to be anything super powerful, just something that can run XP and office, etc. I’m using an old website server mobo from a forum that I’m a frequent member of, with an Athlon Barton core and 1512MB DDR. So far all I have is this sketch, final details will be set as the project progresses.

The “strings” will be small diameter acrylic rod, with LEDs in the bases hooked to CD drive, power, HDD, etc. so the “strings” will light up and blink with activity.

The guitar will be life-sized and sit on a real guitar stand, with all the I/O connections coming out the bottom and behind the case itself.
