Post 9 - Panel Detailing

It is time for some detailing. If you recall, the case has several large holes that connect the top compartemt to the lower portion of the case. To give the interior a cleaner look, I cut a piece of plexi to serve as the floor. A drill a few holes for the watercooling tubing as well as the video card power cables.

The exterior pieces I created needed to be painted, so here is a pic of the res cover, top vent, and IRONMAN text being primed and drying in the California sun.

I wanted to add details to the pieces to appear as though it was fastened to the case. For this task, I went down to the local craft store and bought a couple of bags of Wiggly Eyes.

The eyes worked great. They were attached using crazy glue, and then painted with Hammered Brozne to give the appearance of metal work. Here is a picture of the Front Panel Cover and the Side Panel res cover.

The case is getting close to being done. Still more to come.

Post 8 – Water Block Installation

Now it is time to install the Danger Den water blocks on the cards and processors. Here is a quick picture of both 9800GX2 water block side by side. They are massive!!

Here is a quick reference of the block side next to BFG’s 9800GX2

Here is a picture of a GX2 taken apart and waiting to be cleaned before reapply new thermal paste and pads.

A quick picture of GX2 mated to Danger Dens’ block. A perfect fit.

Here is the DD’s TDX mounted on the NVIDIA’s 790i motherboard

Here is a picture of all the water blocks installed and mounted.

Ok.. still more updates to come :)

Post 7 - Super Computer Parts

Befitting Tony Stark’s persona, I wanted this computer to be powered by the best and fastest parts around. So before we get to the end of this project, I wanted to show the super computing power that will be going to this case mod. So check out the hardware:

For the motherboard, I will be using NVIDIA’s latest board, the 790i Ultra:

I will be running NVIDIA’s Quad SLI in this case mod. I have (2) BFG 9800 GX2.

As for memory, I will be using 2 GB of Crucial’s Ballistix DDR3 2000 (PC 16000)

I will be running Danger Den blocks and pumps. Here you can see the blocks, pumps, radiators, fluids, and fitting that is going to be installed.

Next post.. Water Cooling Installation :)

Post 6 - Monster Power and Radiator

To power this Super Hero Computer, requires super power. I am installing a Silverstone Decathalon 1200Watt PSU. This thing is HUGE. It’s a modder and overclocker dream PSU. It has enough power for 6 PCIe Power cables, as well as completely modular cables. The modular cables are very handy for cable management. Here is a picture of the PSU

With two water cooling loops, I will be mounting one radiator on the bottom, and another one on top. I am using Black Ice Pro radiators, which are approx 1" thick. I have use BIX in the pass, and those things are very thick. To mount the radiator to the bottom of the case, I removed the Hard Drive cage, and use a 1" Right alum angle. I drill holes in the aluminum brackets to line up with the pre-existing holes.

You can see that the radiator fits perfectly in the bottom of the case.

To make sure there was enough air flow, I use two Silverstone 120mm which pushes over 100cfm each. This will keep the video card nice and cool during heavy gaming :)

Here is a picture of the opening on top the case for the radiator. As you can see there is very little room from the top of the case to the motherboard.

Here is a pic of the radiator installed. You can see there is barely space for the fan. I actually had to trim the motherboard tray slightly to fit the fan.

Here is another picture from above.

For the top radiator, I used 120 mm Yate Loon fans. These fans are only 20mm thick, compared to the traditional 120mm fans, which are 25mm. That 5 mm allows me to mount the fan on the bottom versus the top.

Ok.. that is it for this update.. till the next update.
